SC Paderborn 07 has created a chance for promotion to the Bundesliga with a 2-0 away win against SV Darmstadt 98. The Ostwestfalen took advantage of Hannover 96's mistake and secured a spot in the relegation playoffs against VfL Wolfsburg. "As it became clear, it was a joyous atmosphere. I saw tears in the eyes of the fans. For us as SC Paderborn, it's a great moment", said Paderborn's coach Ralf Kettemann in an interview with Sportschau. Stefano Marino had created this brief phase, as he brought the guests into the lead. After a pass from Mattes Hansen, he played Aleksandar Vukotić out and scored with a shot into the short corner. How we could lose it, someone should explain to me", said Florian Kohfeldt to ARD-Sportschau. After the break, the "Lilien", who had also hoped for promotion, intensified their efforts to equalize. Paderborn came up with hardly any attacking action, then however with the big chance on the 2-0. Sergio López fouled Jonah Sticker, referee Florian Badstübner decided immediately and correctly on a penalty. Filip Bilbija chose the middle of the goal to put the ball in the net. But he aimed too high, so the ball bounced back from the underside of the crossbar into the field (62.). A few minutes later, there was a substitution and a lot of melancholy. Fabian Holland, who had played more than 300 games for Darmstadt, is leaving the Hessen after 12 years. From the bench, he watched how his soon-to-be former colleagues created further chances, but also missed them. The luck of SC Paderborn was not yet exhausted. Because the Nürnberger scored the 3-3 equalizer in the 83rd minute at Hannover 96. The joy in the guest block was
